Hello friends and fungus fiends!
Today we’d love to introduce the Cellar Mushrooms team.
We’re the Adams + Brumfield family.
We’re three siblings + two spouses. Molly Adams married Yancey Brumfield, Brett Adams married Sarah Gregg, and Derek Adams is the super-uncle to our collective children.
We live in the greater Vancouver, Washington, area and run our business on the property where the Adams siblings grew up. The five of us have unique strengths and skills, and bring a variety of professional experiences to our mushroom farm, where we delight in cultivating fresh, gourmet mushrooms.
In a very particular order, based solely on age and simplicity of family tree, and not at all on business hierarchy, allow us to introduce ourselves!
MOLLY (older sister to Brett and Derek; married to Yancey; resident copywriter and bookkeeper)
Can most often be found cheering on the sidelines of her kids’ sporting events; practicing yoga; hanging out with Yancey; pickling and canning produce from the family garden.
Remembers that time she won the Christmas raffle drawing at the Birkenstock store as a broke college kid.
Can’t live without a good book and a hot cup of tea.
Can’t stop listening to Avett Brothers.
Wants to go back to Mallorca, Spain.
Is still embarrassed about wetting her pants while on a walk with her toddler. Increased water consumption goals and a long walk with a slow two year old on a tricycle is a dangerous combination.
Believes the greatest TV show of all time is Ted Lasso tied with Schitt’s Creek.
Spends an unexpected hour of freetime by napping outside or writing.
Worked her first job at Godfather’s Pizza.
Besides Cellar Mushrooms, works her current job very part-time tutoring; very part-time freelance writing; full-time momming.
Grew up in Vancouver, Washington.
Studied early childhood/elementary education, and Spanish.
YANCEY (married to Molly; resident biologist and engineer)
Can most often be found with his family at the kids’ sporting events or hanging out at the house together, brewing beer, working on house and yard projects.
Remembers that time he chased a bear out of a Boy Scout camp in Alaska.
Can’t live without family time with Molly and their four kids.
Can’t stop listening to podcasts.
Wants to go back to Mallorca, Spain.
Is still embarrassed about wearing Levi Pipe jeans in middle school.
Believes the greatest TV show of all time is Breaking Bad, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Office all tie for #1.
Spends an unexpected hour of freetime by tying knots.
Worked his first job at a Boy Scout camp in Alaska.
Besides Cellar Mushrooms, works his current job at CH2O Inc.
Grew up in Chugiak, Alaska.
Studied biology.
BRETT (younger brother to Molly, older brother to Derek; married to Sarah; resident operations expert and researcher)
Can most often be found hanging out with his wife, son, and dog; coaching football, golfing, working out, getting happy hour with friends/family
Remembers that time he went on the internet for the first time…AOL for life.
Can’t live without football.
Can’t stop listening to Sturgill Simpson.
Wants to go back to Munich, Germany.
Is still embarrassed about his childhood speech impediment.
Believes the greatest TV show of all time is The Wire, Yellowstone, Breaking Bad.
Spends an unexpected hour of freetime by listening to vinyls.
Worked his first job at Jubert Janitorial.
Besides Cellar Mushrooms, works his current job at Clark-Cowlitz Fire Department.
Grew up in Vancouver, Washington.
Studied English and secondary education.
SARAH (married to Brett; resident restaurant liaison and social media manager)
Can most often be found snuggling her new baby, playing with her two year old pup, beating her husband in cribbage, or cooking.
Remembers that time she realized she had never been fed a corn dog in her childhood. To this day she still has never eaten one.
Can’t live without her family. And a nice, hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning.
Can’t stop listening to Tyler Childers and Shane Smith & the Saints.
Wants to go back to Southeast Asia.
Is still embarrassed about getting caught streaking in 5th grade – by her best friend’s dad.
Believes the greatest TV show of all time is Yellowstone.
Spends an unexpected hour of freetime by cleaning/organizing!
Worked her first job at Glasier lodge in the ice cream shop as a scooper.
Besides Cellar Mushrooms, works her current job at home with her new baby.
Grew up in Estes Park, Colorado.
Studied elementary education, then culinary arts.
DEREK (younger brother to Molly and Brett; resident tech pro and finance consultant)
Can most often be found with friends, family, golfing, or all three!
Remembers that time he was scared of shaving cream.
Can’t live without black coffee.
Can’t stop listening to red dirt country.
Wants to go back to Scandinavia for the food and beer.
Is still embarrassed about not liking mushrooms (until recently).
Believes the greatest TV show of all time is Breaking Bad.
Spends an unexpected hour of freetime by going for a run or bike ride.
Worked his first job at FedEx.
Besides Cellar Mushrooms, works his current job at Shopify.
Grew up in Vancouver, Washington.
Studied business operations at Washington State.
